The boys 200 medley relay team of Rhys Edwards, Andrew Chang and Matthew Chung, all grade 10, and Alex Yu, grade 12, made its CCS cut time; the boys 200 free relay team of Chang, Chung, Yu and Arnav Joshi, grade 11, also made its CCS cut time; Matthew Chung was first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly, making CCS cut times in both, as well as making the cut time for the 50 free leading off the free relay; and Edwards also made a CCS cut time in the 50 free.

Harker Swimming saw their first duel meet jamboree of the season. Crystal Springs, Notre Dame-SJ and Notre Dame-Belmont.

The JV Girls led the charge with wins in the 200 Medley Relay (Aimee Wang (Fr), Jackie Yang(Jr), Ainsley Millard(FR), Elizabeth Fields(So) and the 200 Free Relay

Amiee Wang, Jackie Yang and Ainsley Millard went 1-2-3 in the 50 Breaststroke. Elizabeth Fields was second place in the 100 Freestyle

Varsity Girls were third in the 200 Medley Relay Ihita Mandal (Sr), Alyssa Huang (Jr), Nikela Hulton (Fr) Sophie Durn (So),

Second in the 200 Free Relay Nageena Singh(Fr), Cassandra Ruedy (Jr) Ysabel Chen (Fr), Ihita Mandal. And second in the 400 Free Relay Nageena Singh, Nikela Hulton,Katie Li

Ihita Mandal (Sr) was second in the Varsity 200 Free.

Cassandra Ruedy (JR) third in the 200 Individual Medley

Nikela Hulton (Fr) was second in the 50 Freestyle and won the 100 Butterfly, just missing the cut time for CCS qualification.

Ysabel Chen (Fr) won the 100 Freestyle and was second in the 100 Breaststroke

JV Boys

Nicky Kriplani (So) and Logan Bhamidipaty (Sr) went second and third respectively in the 50 Freestyle

Jay Thilking (Fr), Nicky Kriplani, and Jerry Su (Sr) went 1-2-3 in the 100 Freestyle. Jay Thilking also won the 50 Backstroke.

Varsity Boys were second in the 200 Medley Relay Alex Yu (Sr), Andrew Chang (So), Ethan Hu (Jr), Rhys Edwards (So) and won the 400 Free Alex Yu,Ethan Hu,Matthew Chung(So) Relay in CCS time.

Matthew Chung (So) won the 200 and 500 Freestyle with CCS cuts in both races.

Ethan Hu (Jr) won the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke with cuts in both events CCS time

Alex Yu (Sr) was second in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Freestyle just missing the CCS cut time in the IM.

Andrew Chang (So) was second the the 50 Free Freestyle

Rhys Edwards (So) won both the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke in CCS time

Harker Swimming took on six teams in their second WBAL meet on Thursday.

Harker Girls were 2nd in the Medley Relay, 3rd in the 200 Free Relay and 1st in the 400 Free Relay. The Boys won the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays dropping time in both with a 2nd in the 400 Free.

Matthew Chung won the 100 Free and 100 Breast events. Rhys Edwards and Alex Yu both raced the 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Free in CCS time , with Rhys winning both events and Alex taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Andrew Chang was 3rd in the 100 Breast, Jay Thilking was 2nd in the 50 Back.

Ethan Hu and Jason Kwok raced the same double: 100 Fly and 100 Back with Ethan taking both events and Jason placing 3rd in the Fly.

Nikela Hulton, and Ysabel Chen went 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley. Nikela, Nageena Singh, and Katie Li went on to go 1-2-3 in 100 Fly. Katie was 2nd in the 200 Free as well.

Freshman Ainsley Millard and Sinaya Joshi won their events in the 50 fly and the 50 Back respectively.

The meet started with 200 Medley relay and Harker Boys and Girls were 2nd and 4th respectively.

Ethan Hu won the 200 Free and Rhys Edwards was 4th. Ethan, Rhys, and Jason Kwok went 1-2-3 in the 50 Free.

Matthew Chung was 1st in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly. Ysabel Chen was 5th in the 200IM and in the 100 Free.

The boys 200 Free relay won their event and dropped 2 seconds from their time.

WBAL Jamboree

Harker swimmers took on Priory, The Kings Academy, Nueva, Castilleja, and Mercy SF on the Thursday before the break.

The Varsity girls went 2nd and 1st in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay, and then Nikela Hulton and Ysabel Chen went 2nd and 3rd in the 200 IM. Ysabel added a 3rd place in the 50 Free. Ainsley Millard kept her winning streak going in the 50 Fly.

Varsity boys were 1st in the 200 Medley Relay, followed up by wins from Alex Yu in the 200 and 100 Free. Jay Thilking was 2nd in the 200 IM. Matthew Chung and Jason Kwok went 1st and 2nd in the 50 free and Arnav Joshi was 3rd in the 100 Free. Rhys Edwards won the 100 Fly. Andrew Chang took the 500 Free. Matthew won the 100 Back and Harker went 1-2-3 on the 100 Breast for Jason, Rhys, Andrew Chang.

Harker Swimmers raced in the last dual meet of the season and celebrated our three seniors; Angela Li, Ihita Mandal, and Alex Yu.

Relays: JV Girls, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys won their 200 Medley Relays. For the 200 Free Relay, 2nd JV Girls, 2nd Varsity Girls and 1st Varsity Boys.

Alyssa Huang and Katie Li went 1-2 in the 200 Free and Alex Yu won his 200 race.

Nikela Hulton, Ysable Chen went 2-3 in the 200 IM

JV Girls 50 free 1st Aimee Wang, 2nd Jackie Yang, and JV Boys 1st Nicky Kriplani(PR).

Ainsley Millard continues her domination with another win in JV Jthe 50 Fly.

100 Fly: Nikela and Sinaya were 1st and 3rd, and 1st Arnav Joshi (PR)

JV and Varsity 100 Free was dominated by Harker Swimmers; 1st Elizabeth Fields (PR), 1st Jay Thilking (PR), 2nd Nicky Kriplani, 1st Ysable ,Cassandra Ruedy (PR), 1st Rhys, and 2nd Andrew Lu.

Harker had three swimmers in the 500 Free and went 1-2-3 in the event for Matthew, Alex and Andew Chang (PR, 9 second drop)

Matthew Chung (SO), Rhys Edwards (SO) , Alex Yu (Sr) went 1-2-7 in the 200 freestyle with Andrew Chang (SO) making consolation finals. Chung broke the nine year old WBAL record smashing the old time by 4 seconds and qualifying for the state meet. Ihita Mandal (Sr) made the consolation finals in the 200 Free and dropped 8 seconds off her time. Nikela Hulton (FR) placed 6th in the 200 IM, dropping 6 seconds from her time and later placed 2nd in the 100 Fly making CCS cuts in both events. Nageena Singh (Fr) placed 7th making finals in the 100 Fly. Jason Kwok (So) was 5th in the 50 Free and Andrew Lu was 9th just missing the top 8. Sophie Durn (So) and Sinaya Joshi (Fr) will come back to swim in the consolation finals in that event. Ethan Hu (Jr), Chung, and Edwards went 1-2-3 in the 100 Fly with Hu breaking his own 2018 WBAL Record. Arnav Joshi (Fr) was 10th and will race in the consolation finals. Yu and Mandal swam the 500 Free with Yu going 1st and Mandal 10th. Katie Li, Kwok and Chang made it to their finals in their 100 Breast events. Li going 8th, dropping 3 seconds, and Kwok going 1st, and Chang also dropping 3 seconds.

Harker had an amazing League Championships over the weekend.

The Girls Medley Relay 4th Place (Sophie Durn(So), Katie LI(SO), Nikela Hulton(Fr), Betsy Tian(So) qualified for CCS. Boys 200 Medley Relay 4th place.

Girls 200 Free: Ihita Mandal (Sr) was 14th place.

Boys 200 Free: Harker Boys dominated with Matthew Chung(So) was 1st place and broke the meet record that he set in the prelims and dropped another half a second.

Rhys Edwards(So) was 2nd place, and dropped 4 seconds from his entry time. Alex Yu(Sr) was 6th place also dropping time.

Girls 200 IM: Nikela Hulton (Fr) was 6th place .

Boys 200 IM: Ethan Hu (Jr) set the record in the prelims and then broke his own record in the finals.

Girls 100 Fly: Hulton placed 3rd and Nageena Singh(Fr) was 8th.

Boys 100 Fly: Ethan Hu, Matthew Chung, Rhys Edwards, Arnav Joshi(Jr) went 1st-2nd-5th-10th. Ethan broke his 2018 record in the prelims and broke it again in the finals.

Girls 500 Free: Ihita Mandal placed 10th.

Boys 500 Free: Alex Yu placed 1st and dominated in the event, he bested his nearest opponent by 6 seconds.

Girls Breaststroke: Katie Li dropped 3 seconds and placed 7th

Boys Breaststroke: Jason Kwok placed 1st and broke a league record and dropped 3 seconds.

Boys 200 and 400 Free Relay of Chung, Kwok, Hu and Edwards placed 1st and broke the records of both relays

Harker Girls placed 6th overall and the Boys placed 2nd.

Matthew Chung (200 Free), Jason Kwok (100 Breaststroke), Ethan Hu (200IM and 100 Fly), and the 200 Free and 400 Relays have all made the State Championship meet in May.

Boys Third Place

A huge congrats to the five Eagle swimmers (Matthew Chung, Jason Kwok, and Rhys Edwads, all grade 10, Ethan Hu, grade 11, and Alex Yu, grade 12) that represented Harker at the CCS Championships on Saturday. The boys took home a third place CCS finish as a team thanks to these amazing finishes:
-The 200 Medley Relay (Chung, Kwok, Hu, Edwards) finished first setting a new CCS record
-Hu took first in the 200IM and the 100 Fly, setting CCS records in both events
-Kwok took second in the 100 Breast and thirty-fourth in the 50 Free
-The 200 Free Relay (Chung, Kwok, Hu, Edwards) took second
-Chung finished third in the 200IM and 500 Free
-Edwards was ninth in the 100 Free and tenth in the 50 Free
-Yu took thirteenth in the 500 Free

Harker Swimmers; Junior Ethan Hu, Sophomores Matthew Chung, Rhys Edwards, and Jason Kwok layed down the best performance with a 4th place overall at the CIF State Meet in Harker Swimming history. Hu won the 200 Individual Medley dropping almost three seconds and breaking the State record. Hu would go on to win the 100 Fly in record time of 45.72 just missing the National High School Record by .20. Chung was 7th in the 200 Individual Medley and 9th in the 500 Free and dropped 2.69 from his prelim time. Kwok was 3rd in the 100 breaststroke dropping 1:46 from his prelim swim. Edwards was in both the 200 Medley Relay and 200 free Relay as the anchor going 20.92 and 20.95 in both relays placing 3rd and 4th
