Mark "Mark" Janda

Mark Janda was raised in Massachusetts, Georgia, Luxembourg and Missouri. He has been a teacher for more than 25 years and has taught world history, world literature, social justice, ethnic studies and African-American studies; he is currently a co-coordinator of the Harker Diversity Committee (TK-12).

In 2002 Mr. Janda received the University of Missouri Catalyst Award, for those who speak out and speak often. In 2009 he received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to study St. Francis of Assisi and 13th century religious art in Tuscany and Umbria. In 2018 he completed the NAIS’s Diversity Leadership Institute and for more than 20 years has been leading students and teachers in looking at diversity, inclusion and equity issues. He is also the upper school history department chair.

Mr. Janda is a dad, cyclist, traveler and food fanatic.
