Upper School Athletics Schedule
The Harker baseball team defeated O’Connell High of San Francisco 7-6 on Saturday to improve to 2-1 on the season. Junior Dominic Cea allowed just 2 runs and 2 hits in 5 innings of work, while striking out 11 in picking up the win. Junior Nate Kelly pitched a perfect 7th inning, striking out 2 to pick up the save. Senior Varun Haltore drove in 2 runs and got out of a bases loaded, no out jam in the 6th to help preserve the win.
The Harker Varsity baseball team opened PAL play with a 5-1 win at Westmoor Thursday. Senior Varun Haltore allowed only 1 hit no earned runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work to earn the win. Junior Nate Kelly picked up his second save of the season. Junior Dominic Cea had a pair of RBI's and Haltore also drove in a run with a double
Sophomore Karan Gupta had three hits including a double and a triple to lead an 11-hit outburst. Juniors Mitchell Kole and Dominic Cea along with freshman Max Lee added two hits each. Cea also picked up the win, pitching 4 and 2/3 innings and allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 8. The win improved the Eagles to 4-1 on the season.
Senior Varun Haltore turned in a dominant performance on the mound allowing just 3 hits and one run while striking out 4 and not allowing a walk in pitching a complete game. Haltore also sparked the offense by driving home the first two runs of the game with a triple. Junior Matt Kennedy had 3 hits, including a pair of triples, and freshman Max Lee had 3 hits of his own and drove in 3 runs. Junior Karan Gupta also drove in 3 runs and Junior Dominic Cea added 2 RBI to help pace the 13 hit attack.
The Harker varsity baseball team lost to Jefferson 6-3 Thursday. Junior Tanay Kamat had an RBI double and Junior Nate Kelly added an RBI single and also stole home to help pace the offense.
The Harker Varsity Baseball team defeated Westmoor 2-1 in a Peninsula Athletic League game played on Thursday in Daly City. Senior Pitcher Varun Haltore went the distance allowing just 1 run and 2 hits while striking out 13 in picking up his 4th win of the season. Junior Matt Kennedy had a pair of triples and sophomore Logan Frank added 2 hits to pace the Eagle offense. Junior Nate Kelly scored the tying run in the 5th inning before tripling in the go ahead run in the 6th. With the win, Harker improved to 7-4 on the season and are currently 4-2 and tied for second in the PAL.
The Harker Varsity Baseball team completed a home and home sweep against Jefferson on Thursday, winning 7-4 in a game played at Blackford. Senior Varun Haltore making his final home start of his career pitched 6 strong innings to get the win. Junior Mitchell Kole had two hits and drove in 3 runs, and fellow junior Matthew Kennedy drove in two more runs with a double. With the win, the Eagles improve to 12-10 on the season and will close out its 2017 campaign next week with road games at Mills on Monday and at Menlo on Thursday.
