Harker Swimming opened their season at the Palo Alto Invitational. Junior, Vivian Wang won the 200 IM and broke the school record in the 100 breaststroke while qualifying for CCS in both events. Freshman, Ethan Hu broke the school record in the 200 Free and also qualified for CCS in the 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 100 Backstroke.
Upper School Athletics Schedule
Freshman Ethan Hu and Sophomore Alex Yu went 2 and 3 in the 200 IM with both making CCS cut times. Ethan Hu also won the 100 Free well within the CCS cut time. Sophomore Alex Yu and Senior Michael Auld went 1 and 2 in the 500 Free swimming side by side and dominating the entire race with both making CCS cut times. Freshman Sachin Shah won the JV 50 Back.
Boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Jack Farnham Sr, Justin Culpepper Sr, Michael Auld Sr, Ethan Hu Fr) ended the meet in winning fashion as they qualified for CCS. Ethan Hu won the 50 Freestyle while making another CCS cut time and then came back and broke the school record in the 100 Backstroke. Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Jack Farnham Sr, Justin Culpepper Sr, Michael Auld Sr, Ethan Hu Fr) qualified for CCS and placed second. Junior Vivian Wang won 100 Backstroke and the 50 Freestyle and qualified in her fourth CCS qualifying event. Congratulations to the JV Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Claudia Opris So, Anika Tiwari Fr, Alicia Xu Fr, Cassandra Ruedy Fr) in a come from behind win while dropping 4 seconds from they're time. Ruedy and Xu went 1-2 in the 50 Freestyle. Tiwari and Xu went 1-2 on the 50 Breaststroke. Kevin Xu (Jr) won the JV 50 Breaststroke.
The Harker Swim team competed in the Ron Freeman Invitational at Monta Vista HS on Friday and Saturday Junior Vivian Wang, won the Varsity 500 Free and lowered the school record in that event, by 5 seconds. Senior Justin Culpepper swam a personal best in the Varsity 50 Free. Junior Alex Wang, also had a personal best in the Varsity 50 Free and carved 5 seconds from his time. Sophomore Clarissa Wang, had a personal best in the Varsity 100 Free and 100 Back. Also, Freshman Alicia Xu, had a personal best the in JV 100 Breast.
The JV girls (Claudia Opris , Anika Tewari, Alicia Xu, Cassandra Ruedy) won both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay. Xu, Ruedy, and Opris went 1-2-3 in the 100 Free. Ruedy won the 50 Back, Tiwari won the 50 Breast and Xu won the 50 Free. The Varsity girls (Angela Li, Vivian Wang, Alyssa Huang, Clarissa Wang) won the Varsity 200 Medley Relay and qualified for CCS. Vivian Wang won the 200 and 100 Free in CCS qualifying time. Angela Li won the Varsity 200 Individual Medley. The Varsity Boys (Jack Farnham, Yannick Bohbot- Dridi, Justin Culpepper, Ethan Hu) qualified for CCS in the 200 Medley Relay. Ethan Hu qualified for CCS in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast.
The last regular meet of the swimming season yielded many great results. Seniors Justin Culpepper, Michael Auld and Jack Farnham were celebrated at their last high school dual meet.
The Boys Varsity team won their meet vs The King's Academy, 72-61. They were led by the following event winners; Ethan Hu (Fr), Yannick Bohbot-Dridi (Jr), Alex Yu (Soph), Justin Culpepper (Sr), Michael Auld (Sr). Senior Jack Farnham qualified for CCS in the 100 Backstroke. Yannick Bohbot-Dridi made his first CCS cut in the 200 Individual Medley.
The Varsity girls were edged out in a very close meet falling to The King's Academy 53-58. They qualified for CCS in the 200 Freestyle Relay and won the 200 Medley Relay in CCS time.Vivian Wang (Jr) won the 200 and 100 Free.The JV girls were also in a very close meet and pulled out the win against The King's Academy 49-47.Cassandra Ruedy, Anika Tiwari, Alicia Xu and Claudia Opris went 1-2-3-4 in the 50 Freestyle. This group also won the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays. Xu, Tiqari, and Opris went 1-2-3 in the 100 Freestyle.
The Boys JV team gave all they had and just came up a couple of points short 40-41 to The King's Academy. Sachin Shah and Jedd Hui won the 50 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle respectively. Kevin Xu(Jr), Logan Bhamidipaty (Soph),Jedd Hui (Fr) went went 2-3-4 in the 50 Freestyle and Bhamidipaty, Hui, Jerry Su and Xu won the 200 Freestyle.

Freshman swimmer Ethan Hu won the 100m butterfly at Saturday’s CCS Championships with a time of 47.86, breaking a school record! Ethan is Harker’s 6th ever individual CCS champion in any sport. Please give him a big congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment.

-Junior Vivian Wang had a fantastic swim in the 100 Breast stroke placing 2nd with a school record and qualifying for states.
-The Boys 200 Free Relay (Ethan, Justin Culpepper ,Michael Auld, & Jack Farnham) placed 15th in prelims and finished in 13th in the final going 1:28.51 just missing the school record by 1.21.
-The Boys 400 Free Relay (Ethan, Yannick Bohbot-Dridi, Jack, Michael) placed 11th overall and breaking the school record.
Junior Vivian Wang and Freshman Ethan Hu both placed 4th in the entire state in their respective events at the State Swimming Championships in Fresno this past weekend. Vivian swam a 1:01.61 in the 100 yd breast stroke while Ethan went 47.86 in the 100 yd. butterfly. Ethan was behind 3 seniors in the race and was the only freshman on the awards podium. Please congratulate these two on this outstanding accomplishment!!
