Katie O’Bryon Champlin joined the middle school faculty in 2016, but has been choreographing the upper school musical at Harker since 2007. (Her first exposure to Harker was actually in 2001 when she performed as “Juliet” with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival at an assembly!)
Ms. Champlin is a native Californian and came to Harker from Peninsula Youth Theatre, where she was the performing arts director since 2004. She has worked as an actor, director and choreographer for many companies, including San Jose Stage, Pear Avenue, Los Altos Stage, Foothill Music Theatre, West Valley Light Opera, City Lights and Pacific Repertory Theatre. A favorite role is “Peter Pan,” which she has played twice.
With extensive tour credits (she has performed in 43 of the 50 states), Ms. Champlin once worked for a magician/illusionist and is a graduate of the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre Professional Actor Training Program, where she studied mime, clown, melodrama, Commedia dell’arte and devised theater. She enjoys sewing, old movies and riding her bicycle, and lives with her husband (“who is an actor”) and their young son (“who is a ham”).
