David Hart, a native of Northern California, has taught and performed throughout the U.S., Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Myanmar and Vietnam. Inspired by two of his mentors, Mr. Hart focuses his music education research on ways to improve creativity and improvisation in the music learning process and music curricula for all styles of music.
At Eastman Mr. Hart was an instructor and teaching assistant, teaching a wide variety of jazz theory and history courses. He led the Eastman Community School Junior High Jazz Ensemble, and taught grades 5-12 and college students at the Hochstein School of Music, also in Rochester. Mr. Hart has also taught at UCLA’s Music Outreach Program and the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
Before beginning his doctoral studies, Mr. Hart taught music education and jazz trumpet at Mahidol University’s College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand, where he started the first jazz trumpet studio in that country.
