Family & Alumni Picnic
The Harker Family & Alumni Picnic is in its seventh decade of providing a great time for Harker families and friends! Each year, the whole community comes together both to help make the picnic happen and to join in the fun on a Sunday in October. The picnic features entertainment by some of Harker’s most accomplished entertainers, including choral groups, dancers and, jazz bands. One of the biggest attractions is the $10,000 raffle; lower and middle school students eagerly participate by selling tickets (at just $1 each), receiving fun rewards for their efforts.
Attractions include everything from a petting zoo for the littlest visitors, to a silent auction featuring trips and services like photography, adult beverages by the bottle and case, and a range of other desirable items. In between are the games booths sponsored and staffed by each class’ parents, a gym filled with wheels of fortune with prizes geared towards different age groups, and confections galore, including the ever-popular triple chocolate fountain.
Alumni have a special place in Harker’s heart – and at the picnic! The alumni area is fenced off a bit so young children can romp, and alumni can dine at the special buffet set up just for them. Some of the more popular attractions include the parking lot railroad, the climbing wall and the always hilarious dunk tank, staffed by favorite teachers. Watch for the notices in the various Harker publications and in notes brought home by your student – and be sure and reserve the date early!
