Every year, Harker transforms its Homecoming football game into a wonderful family event for the entire community. With great food, games, performances by talented Harker students and, of course, exciting Eagles football on the gridiron, Homecoming has become one of the most popular events of the year for Harker families.
Parents, students, faculty and staff all combine forces to create the Homecoming experience, and the fun begins well in advance of the game itself. Attendees arrive early to enjoy the many food items available from Mrs. Carley's Cafe and selections such as barbecue beef sandwiches, pizza and the ever-popular hot cocoa, being served at the concession tables.
Harker students from every campus descend on the upper school's Davis Field to cheer on their Eagles, socialize with their friends and show their school spirit. Homecoming is also the culmination of the preceding week's spirit activities, as students compete in the halftime tug-of-war contest to decide which class is the year's champion.
Homecoming is also a great occasion for alumni and their families to reunite with old friends and faculty. A special area for Harker graduates, including several from the Palo Alto Military Academy, is set up to give them the opportunity to catch up, reminisce or even meet for the first time. Many recent graduates also visit at Homecoming to see their friends who are currently Harker students and to stay in touch with their former teachers.
Throughout the night, audiences are treated to the talents of many Harker student performers, including the Varsity Dance Troupe, the junior and varsity cheer squads and the always-lovable Eaglets, whose "fly-by" is one of the most cherished Harker Homecoming traditions.
Whether it's for food, friends, football or all of the above, Homecoming provides something every visitor can enjoy on a brisk fall evening. Come out and support your Eagles!
