Global Education at Harker

Harker builds progressive academic and cultural partnerships between institutions around the world to provide meaningful experiences for students at all grade levels, preparing them to be true global citizens. Our partnership with a school in the People's Republic of China – the first of its kind – resulted in an annual exchange in our middle school. Kindergartners participate in heartwarming video conferences with our peer school in Japan, a partnership that began in 1993. Middle school students tackle environmental and population projects with classmates across the globe. Upper school students have the opportunity to travel to Switzerland to practice their French and Australia to hone their leadership skills. Harker hosts several short- and long-term exchange students from various countries including Germany, Australia, Switzerland and Japan. Harker also hosts visiting teachers from China, Japan and Australia.

Education in the 21st century must prepare students to be successful in a society and workforce that transcends national boundaries. By nurturing these meaningful relationships between young people around the world, we have the ability to create lasting understanding between the future leaders of the world.
