Sports Requirements

Attendance Requirements - Practice runs daily, Monday-Friday, from 3:45-5 p.m. for grade 5, but only 3:45-4:45 p.m. for grade 4. Students are expected to be at practice daily. The minimum number of days/week a student can attend and be eligible to receive a full participation point is three days/week for grades 4-5. However, the absence from practice must be excused!

Excused Absences - Examples of excused absences include art, chess, computers, dance, girl/boy scouts, science, calligraphy, cartooning, gymnastics, Hindi, karate, mystery history, private instrument lessons, religious instruction, teams outside of Harker, and study skills or extra help that has been mandated by a teacher to enable a student to get caught up or bring his/her grade up.

Unexcused Absences - Examples of unexcused absences include parties, shopping, hair appointments, an extreme amount of dentist or orthodontist appointments, carpools, early non-emergency pickups, leaving early on Fridays to beat traffic, having to do homework, studying for a big test, having a big assignment and study halls related to a student getting in trouble or not doing homework.
