Harker is not just an amazing place to be a student. Our employees benefit from the inspiring and exciting academic environment and the strong, family-like community that is forged between faculty, staff and students. We take sustainability seriously, with employee carpool vouchers, a green committee and dedication to recycling and other resource-saving measures. We also like to live well; our human resources department manages a robust employee wellness program, and our kitchens prepare incredible food! All Harker employees are supported in their quest for learning and growth in their fields, including professional development opportunities and teacher grants. Harker faculty and staff often cite our competitive benefits package, creative freedom, social awareness, great students and supportive environment as their top reasons for coming to and remaining at Harker!
Teaching at Harker is deeply fulfilling. The support teachers receive from administration is clear in every aspect of life at the school: small class sizes, creative freedom to develop new courses, opportunities to coach sports, advise clubs and join committees, professional development and special grant opportunities to explore unique research opportunities. Our students are kind, smart and eager to learn. Teachers are highly qualified, internationally literate, diverse and dedicated; new teachers are assigned faculty mentors to guide them through the first years. As a Harker teacher, you’ll be continually inspired by your colleagues, your enrichment opportunities both on campus and off, and, above all, by your students.

Harker is a neighborhood away from home for our students. BEST, our after-school enrichment program (Bucknall/Blackford Enrichment and Supervision Team), provides rich programs and activities that continue the learning and growing into the after-school hours. The staff's mission is to provide a safe and enriching environment for each student, every day.
Harker's summer programs offer rich academic and summer experiences for preschool through high-school aged students. Our experienced summer faculty and staff are passionate about summer learning and fun.
Our maintenance team keeps our campuses safe, beautiful and clean. Not only does our crew maintain excellent facilities and beautiful landscaping, but the students are outwardly appreciative and often develop friendly relationships with those who work on their campuses.
At Harker, healthy and delicious food is part of the learning experience. We want kids to love real food. All produce and food is ordered daily from reputable, local, quality companies. Our menus are custom designed for each division and change seasonally to reflect the fresh products available. All hot entrees, vegetables, sandwiches, stews, casseroles, soups, chili and desserts and most sauces are prepared in each of the campus kitchens. Our made-from-scratch, batch-cooking techniques make food taste better, retain more nutrients and even keeps waste to an extreme minimum.
Harker is on the move all the time. Whether through field trips, athletic events or traveling between campuses, our transportation helps enhance our students' experience and growth. Our four campuses are connected by a morning and evening intercampus shuttle for K-12 students. Harker also runs a morning and evening bus service from a variety of designated drop-off locations, including Portola Valley, Los Altos, Silver Creek and Fremont. A wide range of field trips ensure that our bus drivers are visiting lots of interesting places in the Bay Area!
All of our security professionals are Harker employees, not contracted staff, and their mission is to protect the community. Each of our security employees is certified in CPR, first aid and AED. In addition to on-staff personnel, our security measures include foot and mobile patrols, after-hours escorts, 24-hour emergency response, security staffing at all evening and weekend events and traffic management.
Harker's coaches do more than just coach our student athletes in sports. They serve as role models and mentors, helping our student athletes develop into well-rounded individuals who are ready to lead teams, compete and succeed in the world. Our athletics staff includes a strength and conditioning coordinator, and one full-time and two part-time athletic trainers, to support the health and wellness of Harker’s athletes. With experience in collegiate, professional and international sports teams, our coaches offer our students an excellent athletic experience.
Harker's administration and support staff embody our values of leaning in and making a difference in our students' lives. Our administrators are experienced educational professionals dedicated to guiding our students to meet their potential and be the best they can be. And, whether they work directly with students or mostly with adult colleagues, our support staff members are committed to the greater good of Harker and the children in our care.
Harker keeps all its campuses on the leading edge of technology, so our faculty and students can get on with the business of learning with the most appropriate tools available. Our IT team supports faculty and staff needs and maintains the 1:1 laptop program our middle and upper school students enjoy.
