Cindy Liu, Gr. 5, was named the winner for North America of United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) 17th International Children's Painting Competition on the Environment. Her painting was selected from 700 entries from the North American region for this competition, organized by UNEP, the Japan-based Foundation for Global Peace and Environment, and the Bayer and Nikon Corporations. Liu traveled, all expenses paid, to Washington, D. C., for the award ceremony on Earth Day, April 22 and will travel to the Global World Environment Day celebrations in Wellington, New Zealand, on June 5. Congratulations Miss Liu!
